From the Source - Spring 1995
by G. Robert Kerr
As P2AD continues to expand and refine the technical assistance programs of the Division, our discussions with those of you in industry have been quite helpful as we plan future programs. Thanks to all of you who have called, stopped by our booth at a recent exposition, or (better yet) used our services! These many conversations, coupled with the data we obtained from the industry survey conducted for us by Georgia State University last summer, have shown us that businesses want technical information and training focused on specific topics of interest to them, as opposed to general pollution prevention topics. Additionally, our recent industrial sector prioritization and analysis efforts (as profiled in the last newsletter) have identified solvent usage as a key issue for a variety of businesses in the state. In response to this issue, as well as the need for very focused training information, and the impending deadlines imposed by the Montreal Protocol, the Division will be sponsoring a solvent alternatives conference in Atlanta on June 29th. The conference is being planned in cooperation with the Georgia Tech Research Institute; more specific information and a registration form can be found elsewhere in this newsletter.
The June 29th conference also builds on some earlier workshops conducted by the Division, specifically the January 1994 Solvent Substitution Conference and the October 1994 Airline/Aircraft Conference. I encourage those of you who attended these past conferences to make plans to attend on June 29th; new information will be presented, additional vendors will be represented, and there will be ample opportunity to network with your peers. For those of you who haven't attended our conferences or workshops in the past, please consider attending this one and learning more about P2AD and solvent alternatives.
This issue of From the Source is also an attempt to provide our readers with technical information focused on one specific subject area--in this case, solvent usage and alternatives. Please let us know what you think about having the newsletter focus on aspects of a particular issue. You may address any comments to Jancie Hatcher at (404) 651-5120 or 1-800-685-2443.
