Conserve Georgia Awards Honor Businesses and Organizations for Creating a Culture of ConservationATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue today announced winners of the 2009 Conserve Georgia’s Natural Leaders Awards and the 2009 Partnership for a Sustainable Georgia Awards to recognize initiatives that have produced outstanding conservation achievements. Governor Perdue started Conserve Georgia with the goal of encouraging a statewide culture of conservation that helps preserve and sustain the state for generations to come. The Conserve Georgia Awards recognize those helping to create a culture of conservation through energy, land, wildlife and water conservation; the improvement of air quality; the prevention of litter; and the promotion of recycling. The Partnership for a Sustainable Georgia Awards recognize Partners, including businesses, organizations and municipalities for excellence in leading the way to a sustainable Georgia. “We are blessed to live in a state with bountiful natural resources. It’s our responsibility to be good stewards of those resources so that Georgia can continue to prosper for generations to come,” said Governor Sonny Perdue. “The culture of conservation is taking hold. Today’s award-winners have incorporated conservation into their lives and business practices and in doing so have become leaders. They should be recognized for their accomplishments.” The 2009 Conserve Georgia Award winners are as follows.
