In 2009, Accenture and Cox Enterprises won the Green Day Challenge award by recruiting more than 150 employees for an outstanding park improvement project along Freedom Parkway in metro Atlanta. In all, more than 700 volunteers from 27 companies exchanged their suits for work boots and garden gloves to help EarthShare of Georgia clear privet and other invasive vegetation, clean up parks and streams, mulch trees and much more throughout Atlanta and beyond.

All participating employee volunteers will receive a volunteer bag, t-shirt and a variety of eco-giveaways from our Earth Day sponsors. The Corporate Green Day Challenge winning team with the greatest number of participating employees will be recognized at the eighth annual Earth Day Leadership Breakfast on Friday, April 23, at the Georgia Aquarium.

Accenture’s work with EarthShare of Georgia reflects our commitment to environmental
stewardship, for our people, our clients and the communities where we live and work.
The Corporate Green Day Challenge was a great opportunity to harness our people’s
energy and their desire to make a difference in Georgia.

Celebrate Earth Day at EarthShare of Georgia’s 14th annual Earth Day Party, this year at the Atlanta Event Center at Opera.  Built in the 1920s, the Atlanta Event Center originally served as a performance theatre for the Atlanta Women’s Club. Located in the heart of Midtown Atlanta, this richly diverse space still retains the unique historical character and stunning architectural details of that period.  With the recent renovation, it continues to be one of the most remarkable and stylish venues in the city.

Join a diverse group of environmentalists, devoted philanthropists, business professionals and the community at large on the eve of Earth Day, and help promote sustainable practices and policies wherever we work, live and play.
Enjoy music, dancing, food by Whole Foods Market, and an Eco-silent auction stocked with deals on unique eco-getaways, outdoor gear, and environmentally friendly products.

Proceeds for the evening benefit EarthShare of Georgia, Georgia’s only dedicated environmental fund.

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta considers itself to be a good steward in not just money, but time and resources too. Partnering with EarthShare of Georgia for Earth Day makes sense.  Through our sponsorship, our employees have a wonderful way to build relationships, as well as make an environmental difference by volunteering and giving through our EarthShare of Georgia workplace campaign.

This year’s keynote speaker, sponsored by The Coca-Cola Company, is Seth Goldman, Co-founder, President and TeaEO of Honest Tea.  Seth, a graduate of Harvard College and the Yale School of Management, co-founded Honest Tea in 1998 with Barry Nalebuff, his professor at the Yale School of Management.  Ever since the company was launched out of Seth’s Bethesda, Maryland, home, Honest Tea has been an innovator – the first to successfully market lower-calorie drinks, the first to market organic bottled tea, and the first to make a Fair Trade Certified bottled tea.  Seth serves on the boards of Pennsylvania Certified Organic, Environmental Leadership Program, and co-chairs Bethesda Green, the local sustainability nonprofit.
